About
The Advanced Research Institute for Informatics, Computing, and Networking (AdRIC), the research unit of the College of Computer Studies (CCS), was established in 1994 to drive research initiatives in computing. Its responsibilities include setting research priorities, commissioning projects, and fostering collaborations with industry, government, and academia. Since its inception, AdRIC has evolved significantly, with the establishment of a dedicated laboratory in 1996, the adoption of CCS publications and seminars in 1998, and the formal identification of key research areas in 2002. By 2009, research groups had transitioned into laboratories where faculty supervised student projects funded by AdRIC and external grants. In 2013, these laboratories were classified into research centers, focusing on areas like empathic computing, computational linguistics, and network security, while professional laboratories worked on mobile and web applications, game development, and ICT for development. Recently, the mobile and web-based lab expanded into a research center dedicated to big data analytics and emerging technologies.
