Dr. Charibeth Cheng, Associate Dean of the College of Computer Studies and researcher at the Advanced Research Institute for Informatics, Computing, and Networking (AdRIC), was awarded the Imminent Research Grant 2024 for her work on developing a multilingual machine translation system for seven Philippine languages.
Her project, under the AdRIC Center for Language Technologies, aims to strengthen communication across the country’s diverse linguistic communities and preserve indigenous languages through digital integration.
Dr. Cheng is the only recipient from an Asian university, joining winners from Cambridge University, University College London, and Ionian University.
